Belzona Barge

The Belzona Barge was sunk in 1991 in 72 feet of water and relocated by hurricane Andrew in 1992 to 40 feet of water. Like many barges, she sunk upside down. Penetration is not advisable but there is a great deal of surface area to explore. The vessel has rapidly deteriorated over the past 22 years and there are many sharp angles. It is one of Miami's shallower wreck sites and is popular with new and intermediate divers.
The broken ship provides ideal shelter for many small creatures and reef fish and the visibility is usually quite good. As it is a shallower site closer, currents are usually less strong than at deeper sites, this is one of our favorite dive sites!
